Want an RX8 if you want a Mazda 6
I would love to find an equivalent rx8 to trade for my 07 Mazda 6 SVE 2.3 ATX
I'm looking for an RX8 with a 6spd and loving owner that cared to rev the hell out of it at least once per day. I'm looking for a more mod-friendly while still city & passenger friendly RWD car.
If you drive a lot and want less spent on gas, EPA rated 24/31
MPG tracked since the 30k service: http://www.fuelly.com/driver/brandiniman/6
My car:
2007 Mazda 6 2.3L I-4 Sport Value Edition (power seat, windows, Alloy Wheels, remote/switchblade key)
60K Miles (purchased Jan 08 with 25k from Mazda Dealer)
100k Warranty (Mazda's Total Care, covers all but creaks and rattles and wind noise unless a TSB exists)
5 spd ATX (Mazda's own, not Ford)
55W 4200K HID with separate wiring harness, relay, and fuse
Smoked LED sidemarkers that have Yellow LEDs (passes state inspection fresh 01/2010 sticker)
Mazdaspeed Cold Air intake with Mazdaspeed (AEM Dryflow) Filter and Injen Hydroshield
Magnaflow Cat-Back Exhaust (easily removable and tradeable for a stock setup)
Techna-Fit Stainless Brake lines and Amsoil High-temp DOT3 fluid
45% tint all around (legal in VA everywhere)
Service history:
Oil and filter changed every 6k miles with Amsoil 0W-20 (spec is 5W-20 so 0W is even better at startup) and Amsoil synthetic media oil filter (car used to have cartridge style filter, swapped oil housing with Mazda dealer part at 30k service and now uses spin on filters)
at 30K:
PCV dealer replaced, NGK IX Plugs installed, Transmission fluid flushed with Amsoil ATF &
drained and refilled at 36K for good measure, power steering fluid changed, new cabin air filter
Same thing to happen in the next few weeks for the 60K milestone! Except I'll be using Amsoil 0W-30 since it's not really that much thicker (10.3 vs 9.0 cSt).
Tires: Kumho ASX all-seasons, just did great in the snow, put on in August 2009
Nada Trade-in value: $9,700
Edmunds.com real trade in value on 'clean': $10,900 (represents actual resale values, mostly reflected due to increasing gas costs)
So if you have a manual trans accident-free 04+ RX8 that has never seen synthetic- and you're starting a family or drive a lot and need to save on gas/insurance and want to drive more easily in the snow. Let me know!
Might be a good time to polish the heck out of that 6!!
Oh you'll get the chance to do that soon enough!

Help keep my thread at the top!
Jon (not John) is selling his VR RX8 finally, lol. We're returning it to stock currently, but you can probably get it cheaply - '05 GT w/ about 60k on it.
Whats with not wanting yellow or blue? Those are great colors!! GL with a trade though.. you never know....
How much will he be asking? I'm going to stop by the local CarMax and see what they'd give me for my car.
What kind of mods are you reversing?
He's asking $13,500. I'll have to find out the exact mileage but its under or close to 60K.
JIC Coilovers - gone
Seibon CF hood - still on car
19" Volk GTCs - still on car
Prosport oil pressure, oil temp gauges and gauge pod - still on car
Modified stock muffler - still on car
Modified stock cat - still on car
ProjectU 4pot BBK - still on car
Front and rear strut bars (the rear bar is a one-of-a-kind never to be seen again on the market) - still on car
Recently flushed diff and trans and new spark plugs (like a month ago... I was there when he did it, just cant remember when)
All the parts listed as "still on car" are coming off and being sold or swapped with an '04 he has (my old gray one). He wants to sell the parts off the car to offset some of the cost of selling it, but I'm sure he'd leave most of it on for the right $$. Considering the wheels and brakes alone add about $2-$3k worth onto the car, he'll get more for them selling them out right....
Hmm... time to see what I can find. I wouldn't mind that car at that price but i would like him to leave the brakes on :-)
I have yet to see someone justify the markup... from edmunds as trade/private party/dealer retail:
| $9,388 | $10,730 | $11,860 |
Look at it this way, stock I COULD buy it for 13.5 from him, but if i turned around and traded it... I just lost 4k, and I haven't seen them selling like hotcakes at 13+ for an 04-05...
Depending on what I can get for my car, that price with brakes and I'd do it. Besides, I'd like to keep it local and close to the club... and VR is so hot.
A little drool moment for you Brandon. First one on the right.

Turns out he's asking $13k for it, lol.. Saw his wife make a post on FB about it.
The catch on the brakes is that its sort of a package deal with the Volk wheels since the brakes dont fit under the stock 18s, crazy, I know. Its probably easier for him to sell the wheels/brakes together (or at the same time) then try to find a person who's willing to buy the car with the volks and the brakes for $15k or so...
Either way, if you're interested, i'm sure he wouldn't care for you to come check the car out. Probably next weekend we'll be swapping parts around on it....
The funny part about the pic John is its at the same spot I believe as the one brandon's 6 pic is at...
I think that's one of the bigger turn offs, I believe mine is Before the gap.
Oh and that makes sense on the wheels+brakes. If he has some wiggle room on the price I'm interested. I'm going to start looking around at dealers who may want my car. Bill of you want a safe family car with a 100k warranty this has your name on it.
