Meet #1 - 2010 ... First Gathering Of The New Year
May as well at least try to start the year off right. Let's find a nice place for LUNCH or DINNER and see if we can get together for a bit of planning. I'd like to see us work towards 2 or 3 larger events during the year along with our usual monthly gatherings. An idea would be to plan around the large gatherings like Tail of the Dragon and one or two of the VIR events during the year.
So the next date is January 16th. Let's get some ideas for a location.
- Shakers
- Devils Backbone
- Benjiman's
- Waterstone Pizza
How about something in Florida? Or anyplace warm.

Okay, so one vote for a restaurant with a fireplace. I'll second that. Anything else?
Just a good place to eat. Planning a drive at this time of year really would be difficult, you never know what the weather may bring, or the road conditions of the higher elevations. We really like Benjamin's, but that might have to be for dinner. With more weather predicted in the coming weeks, we could be bringing the Toyota to a Mazda meet..lol
any thoughts of having a meet somewhere in the roanoke area?
Fred, it would not be critical if you came in the Yota. You'll of course have to park in another lot.
Micheal ... YES! I am more than happy to lean West. Tell you what, start a thread in this same area of the forum... "Motion For A Roanoke Meet". Or you can put it in the Roanoke and Western part of the forum. Then we'll need to get you and Fred to go find us a good location. We can then pick a date (current calendar for 2010 is pretty open), and I'll do the tedious job of promotion throughout all the other forums. We could even invite the Va Tech club. Great idea, now hop to it!
Okay, back to January 16th! We need better turn-out than this thread has shown. I don't want to come up with all of the meets this year. Some new ideas and input are valuable. Come have dinner and share your thoughts.
Just found out that I am covering on 3rd shift Friday night, so I am going to have to cancel for Saturday. Just not enough sleep for me.
Should be able to make it to dinner. And the cover of night should hide my dirty car. I know John, I know........

i second this. come down to daytona!
Is the meet officially Charley's?
And I think the weather should be good enough Saturday for a cruise.
Yes, the meet is officially at Charley's. Hopefully you can enjoy your cruise to the restaurant because I don't think we'll have one after drinks / hors doeuvres / dinner. Plus it will be dark! But cruise away before that, just don't forget to show up back at the restaurant for the meet.
Holly and I will be there, but not my MS3 - it's sitting at Sandrof auto body getting a nose job (long story, will tell over dinner). Instead, we'll be repping her new ride - a 2010 Honda Fit.

PS - I may have to cut out early, as it's my duty night for the rescue squad. Probably about 7:30 or so.
See you there!
im new to the area but ill be there and it is great cause it gives me time to work on some things on my car.
Welcome RX7mech. Glad you can make it out. Sorry I wont be there this time to meet you, but hopefully next time.
Kirstin, Kiley and I should be able to make it. We are definitely planning on it. Sorry you can't make it Fred.
Fred, Fred, Fred ...
Well at least we had another Phantom Blue RX-8 show up.
Sorry I missed it. But 16 hours on Friday stole my Saturday from me. But the OT could not be passed up.
Hey, I would have thought the brand new CX7 would have showed up.
