Oil
As some of you know, I work for Carter Machinery, the regional Caterpillar dealer. Well we are also a Mobil/Exxon dealer. While most of the oils and lubricants we carry are made for diesel applications, we also have a large contract with VDOT, therefore carry a selection of automotive oils. With my employee discount I can get some decent prices on Mobil oil. Currently a case of 12 quarts of Mobil costs me $29.50 a case. Or $2.45 a quart. At the local Walmart here, this oil is about 2.57, not a big savings, but still a savings. Now, Mobil One synthetic I can get for $33.77 for a case of 6 quarts, which is $5.62 a quart. Local Walmart here sells Mobil One for $6.25 a quart, so a little better deal. All prices listed do not include tax, which will increase price slightly. Of course it would be smart to check locally, but here in Roanoke, I can beat any price I have found.
Just thought I would offer this. If you need oil and are going to come to a meet, I would be happy to pick up a case for you.(We only sell it by the case). Shipping it anywhere would negate any savings, so I don't really want to do that. We stock both 5w-20 and 5w-30 Mobil 5000 in Salem. We have some Mobil One product there, but have it stocked thoughtout our store system and I can have it shipped to me(for free) in one or two days.
Just thought I would offer.
That's a very nice offer Fred. I'll let you know. Typically I've been a Castrol man, but I don't have a fetish about it.
Well I believe the Castrol is about a buck more a quart. I grew up being a Castrol person as well, but Mobil puts a pretty good product out there as well.
Any details on what base stocks each product uses? Remember to avoid group IV and V for a rotary (and aim for those if you don't have a rotary).
