Waffle weave or absorber

What do you prefer to dry your car with, a waffle weave towel or one of those absorbent towels, like a shammy?

I was washing my car today, took off work early to do it before dark, and it came down to drying. Right now I use a Absorber towel from Autozone, which is like a shammy or shamwow. You have to wring it out and it froze my hands. It almost makes me want to switch to waffle weave.

I was just curious what everyone else uses, probably mainly John.

I use the waffle weave as well, but also bought a 30 dollar leaf blower from wallyworld. Now I hit it with the leaf blower first, great for knocking most of the water off, getting water out of the crevices, best thing ever for drying tires and wheels. Then hit with the waffle weave with a little QD like John said, or spray wax works too.

More often than not, I use the Absorber when I'm doing a Optimum No Rinse wash.

If I do a standard wash with soap and a hose, I'll use the Jelly Blade, followed with the Absorber.

Which ever way you go, you've gotta get rid of those spots! Water marks are TERRIBLE for your paint!!

Fred, I like the idea of a blower too. I just haven't found one small enough that I like. My wet/dry vac actually does about the same thing if I reverse the hose to blow.

Exact same thing I use John. I have a mobile battery powered blower for the crevices. It is nice to get the water out of the headlight seals and door jams. Here is a link to it; I think I got it from buy.com for like $5.

I was considering waffle weave, but I would have to use a lot I think since I keep my car fairly wet until I'm ready to dry. I do have different towels for different jobs, inside and out, dirty and clean.

Waffle weave's that I am using, absorb more water than the absorber I used to use. I have two, one small, and large. If I use the small one, I wring it out like once. When I use the large one, never really feels all that wet..lol. Now that I use the blower, I more often than not, use a standard Micro fiber(one really absorbent material) with a little QD or spray wax. I used the absorber for years with really good results. My last one just needed replacement, so I went with waffle weave. Both are good.

Oh, and John, the blower I got is very small, very light. It is made by Weedeater, here is a link:

The photo makes it look like a standard size, but the black tube is at the most 18 or 20" long, not big at all. Would actually be one of the worst leaf blowers made, but excellent car dryer. grin

Brandon, I can't believe you're even pretending like you wash your car! wink

He probably doesn't. He just uses the neighbor's air compressor to spray it down with air ;-)

I used to when it was warmer... now I'd get hypothermia or the water would freeze on the car.
