Ok, this is the email I got from VIR concerning the events for the Bosch Engineering Octoberfest.

Looks like a good time:


On Track

Octoberfest Logo
October 2-4, 2009

The Bosch Engineering Octoberfest will be the ultimate interactive motorsports festival with activity throughout VIR's 1500 acre campus.  Activities include:
 
Full Course

Grand-Am Koni Challenge Sports Car Series 4 hour endurance race (practice and qualifying on Friday and Saturday - Race on Sunday 12 noon).
SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup (practice and qualifying on Friday and Saturday - races on Saturday and Sunday).
VW "Sim Race" featuring VW GTIs - fan ride along in simulated races on the VIR full course (Friday through Sunday - sign up at the VIR Store in the North Paddock).
Fans get to drive their own cars on the track during fan drives on both Saturday and Sunday at no extra cost (sign up at the VIR Store in the North Paddock).
 
Patriot Course

S.O.R.A.D. Drift Championship - drivers compete for CASH prizes (Friday through Sunday) (advance registration required).
Drift ride-alongs (fans get to ride in drift cars on the Patriot Course on Saturday and Sunday - sign up at the VIR Store in the North Paddock).
 
Skidpad

Gymkhana presented by Volkswagen (run by DGTrials.com)
Entrants drive their own cars against the clock for fastest time in various classes for prizes (Friday-Sunday at the Skidpad - advance registration required). 
Fans drive the course in brand-new Volkswagen GTIs - prizes for the fastest times of the weekend (Saturday and Sunday - sign up at the VIR Store in the North Paddock)
 
Go-Kart Track

Fans can race the VIR 9hp Stratos Go-Karts (Friday-Sunday)
 
Offroad Rally Stages

Fans can drive their own vehicles in the VIR Rallycross. (Saturday-Sunday)

Off-track activities

Band on Friday and Saturday nights with fan parties
Playboy Bunnies and VIR Girls
Sound off competition (no extra entry fee)  
Car show (no extra entry fee)
Children's Fun Zone

Looks like lots of fan participation activities. grin

Son of a B... wedding weekend! I actually knew this was going to happen and was bummed out about it.. somehow I dont think the wife to be would be thrilled about me hanging out at the track after the wedding, lol...

Anybody who hasnt attended an event like this should go, its a good time!

Here's an update from the same guy who organized our Mazda Corral last year. This proves to be full of win for the Mazda clubs!!!



Special Offer to Car Clubs
   

Car Clubs that purchase tickets to the Bosch Engineering Octoberfest online in advance using a discount code provided (KCMZ09) to that club will get:

$30 3-day ticket (regularly $40 in advance and $50 at gate)
• VIR Hat for each pre-registered club participant
• Special car corral parking area
• Touring laps for each club behind the pace car (time to be determined)
• Each club participant will be entered to win additional prizes from VIR and its sponsors
• Photo session with the VIR Girls
• One meal coupon for each participant on Saturday and Sunday that can be redeemed for breakfast or lunch at the Pagoda grille
• 10% discount on go-karting (and preferential booking for go karting in advance)

Activities during the Bosch Octoberfest include the following:

Full Course

• Pre-race grid walk where fans can get up close to the cars prior to the race.

The wife is working on accomodations and of course you can camp. I am working with Grand-Am on a few more surprises as well. So stay tuned and lets get the word out to other Mazda owners as well.......basically, you get all of this for $10.00 a day.....thats value

I believe we'll all use the same code. I'll pass along info as I get it. We should probably start a list of who's planning to attend.


EDIT: YES, we will all use the same code. It is for the entire Mazda corral.

Does this means she will be going, and needs something to do at the track, or is staying home, and needs something to do?  Just trying to figure out what sort of suggestions might be helpful to ya smile

Bring here along Michael, there will be plenty of families there. Including a portion of mine. It will be similar to the event we were at earlier this year. Does she not have any interest in watching races, drifting, go karts....?

Yes I will camp anywhere.  The wife tho not so much.  Depends if she wants to go too.  She is l,ooking into an 2010 miata now.  I will have to see.  Keep us posted on options.

Excitement is building at VIR for the October 2-4 Bosch Engineering Octoberfest.  Promoters NeededThis week we are getting out all of our posters and flyers for the Octoberfest.  If you are interested in helping promote this event, please email info@virclub.com and you might qualify for free tickets in exchange for distributing posters and flyers.Car ClubsWe want to bring as many car clubs to the Bosch Octoberfest as possible and have an amazing offer for clubs that sign up in advance.  The special offer includes discount pricing, a VIR hat for each car, food packages, a special parking area and touring laps.  So if you are a member of a car club email info@virclub.com and start working with us to organize your club coming up to the event.ParticipateThe Bosch Octoberfest gives race fans many ways they can be part of the action, including parade laps, driving a new VW GTI in the VW Gymkhana, riding in a drift car and riding in a VW GTI on the full course as part of a sim race.Off Track ActionAs always, kids 15 and under are free at the Octoberfest.  Off track excitement includes fan walks on pit lane, a kids zone, vendors, food, a great band at fan parties on both Friday and Saturday nights and the Playboy bunnies and VIR Girls.
