Meet #9 - Sept 19th - Farmville
that sounds good
Is Mazda going to have a corral at GT Live this year?
We could have an October meet their..........I might even bring a Mazda
I'm down. Maybe by then I'll finally have this damn Cobb AP figured out? Where is this GT Live you speak of?

I think I read earlier this year, before the Rolex race down there, that Mazda would have a corral at both the Rolex and Koni series races. Will try to check my sources on that.
We definitely need to go to GT Live in October for meet #10. I went last year with John and his family and had a blast. Kirstin enjoyed it too even though she was almost 8 months pregnant at the time
.
As for meet 9 I'm cool with Farmville if we can find something to do. I suck at ideas so someone chime in.
My wife and daughter went to Charley's Waterfront Cafe in Farmville for dinner tonight. They gave it a very positive review. I'll have to call and see what they think of a bunch of Mazda hooligans invading thier space though.
Got anything cheaper?
So you are running the Cobb AP too? I've had it on my MS3 for over a year and I love it! :)I'm down. Maybe by then I'll finally have this damn Cobb AP figured out? Where is this GT Live you speak of? -itschey
Yea, that restaurant looks great, but maybe something cheaper would be better if possible. One restaurant that is pretty popular in Farmville is Macados. I went there years ago. It doesn't have prices on the menu, but I'm sure its similar to an Applebees, etc. Here's the link: http://www.macados.net/

Macados is great! Awesome sandwhiches with anything and everything you could want on it in any combination. Prices went there not long ago for dinner for 2 with a couple of the big beers plus apitizers and it came out to about 30 bucks.
so basically the same prices (between 8 -10 bux) for the sandwich plates from what I see
Just to pipe in on the Koni race: a couple guys are finalizing what should be a Mazda corral at VIR for the event, maybe even some parade laps. It doesn't look like the GT Live event is happening, though, so I'm not sure if the whole gamut of drifting & time attack is going to happen. My daughter loved that.
We have a couple of Macado's in Roanoke/Salem. Great food. 6 to 8 bucks for a sandwich, but most will more than fill you up.
Did a quick search for parks around Farmville. Twin Lakes State Park in Rice is probably the closest. Looking at the map, saw it had one lake, not sure where the twin is. Unless it is the other Twin lakes state park that is in Green Bay, Va. Which is closer to Blackstone, Va. If you want to go there I can show you where my Dad was born. :)
Another park that is north of Farmville is Bear Creek. Little bit further drive, but still I think it is within 20 miles of Farmville. I have never been to either park, so can't comment on them. Looks like swimming, hiking, fishing and cooking out are the activities. Of course, Holiday lake is back toward Appomatox. It is a nice place. Been there a couple of times. You can rent paddle boats there, has a concession stand, swimming area. Lots of trails. As far as twisty drives, just not that familar with the area, and maps can be deceiving.
I was checking out the park thing too. We'll possibly be up there Sunday again, maybe I can ride over to the park real quick to see what its like.
looking at the VIR website it looks like GT Live has boiled down to a pair of 6 hour races......
sad
Oh i didn't see the sandwich section... that will do. Which one has better beers and which one will I not feel under-dressed at?
When is this meet? Sept 19th?

You will not be underdressed at Macados
there are also many other places around roanoke, such as backcreek grill. bastian's bbq is really good, or jimmy v's. all of which have sandwiches available, pizza at jimmy's, and adult beverages for those old enough and with that mindset. or we can meet up around fincastle/bonsack, pick up the parkway from 460 up to bent mountain, down bent mountain on 221 to ( either backcreek grill which is on 221 or ) take mount chestnut up to the Valhalla vinyards for sandwiches and a great selection of wines.
