Auto X?
Virginia Motor Sport Club www.vmsc.org sets these kinda things up I actually stubbled upon one of the classes a couple weekends ago. They had a road course set up in a big open lot with cones and cycled ppl through pretty quickly I talked to one guy guy even let me ride with him for the afternoon. It seemed pretty awesome and relatively cheap too. I'd say if you want a auto cross this would be the best way to go.
Umm, I've been out of it for awhile, but I know there used to be autox at little creek and pungo poss by the vmsc, however i think best bet is to look at autox.net or org????? could be mistaken (just google it) but its been like 2 years since autox circ for me and then it was n chicago and greater chicago for me. I can try and hit up some old friends if you like to get whats up, but they may have moved as well. (military....it sucks some times when you're running autox circuit) however I'm looking into getting with the va beach autox locals if ya'll want to meet up???????? i dont know whats going on in c va, but ya'll would be closer, I'm up for whatever. RIL would be closer to me regardless.....2-3 hour drive I'm in for a good autox. Crap, I'll go back down to pungo if I have to. Nothing's going on around here. Still got to get the car set up well, but won't be long, I'm in to cheer in the mean time!
www.autocross.us is what you were looking for
NASA is the other group in town you wanna look at

I believe we are Lynchburgians, not ham-burgers.
yes, lynchburg falls int the BRR-SCCA region. and we have an autox once a month
check out www.brr-scca.org
cool, definitely going to check one out, can't believe I missed the one in Salem, I work right next door to it. Gonna be a while before I try one out though.
Plus 1 on that recommendation. Lots of Mazdas out there showing up the more expensive cars it's a must do!!
I've been trying to find out information about how to get started autocrossing in Richmond. I've looked at the VMSC and NASA sites, but I haven't found a guide for the complete rookie. Should I even expect to do it in my 3, or should I stick to karts?
Make sure you get to the upcoming meet on the 18th pat, plenty of people there to answer that question in person. I believe there are Mazda3's in the autox world....
Here's a general link: soloracer.com
This site has some info about various events in Virginia and has a "new to autocross" section: Autocross.us forum
you want to run your car completely stock the first couple of times anyway, it's the best way to see what you should improve first
usually the cheapest upgrade to improve upon is the nut behind the wheel
then get better tires
for the local blue ridge region schedule for auto-x the website is www.brr-scca.org
