We'll use this thread as a place of information on waxes. If you've tried a new one and like it, let us know. Also gives us your all time favorite wax.

My most used wax over the years has been Meguiars. One of their newer products ...

An easy to use product for the car that has a good clean surface to start with...and smells nice too.

I use Eagle 1 Wax as you Dry every now and then. I can't say for sure which wax I like best as I'm still trying some out. so far it looks like Zaino or F1 Kare pink wax.

I've been a huge fan of Turtle Wax's ICE. What i like the best about it....

  • it goes on clear
  • doesn't require shade
  • is intended to go on black rubber parts too
  • brought the sparkles that i never knew existed out of my paint...on a 19 year old car!

I think being sparkly is ok. Sometimes I use Kelli's lotion. Oil of olay Quench I think? It makes my skin sparkly............

Meguiar's Yellow #26 was always a favorite. Last used Griot's Best in Show...which I was pleased with. Next waxing will be Zymol's Carbon... it was a gift, and supposed to be really nice on dark paint.

Got some time off coming up, so think I will be doing the complete clay, polish and waxing. Hopefully some photos will follow. Really looking for some decent places here in Roanoke to do a photo shoot.

Well I used Meguiars NXT 2.0 for the first time this past weekend on my wife's FJ. And this absolutely was the easiest on and off wax I ever used. It is a space age synthetic polymer something or another,,,,which means it is not carnuba, and will most likely last much longer than carnuba. Only using it on the one vehicle, I can not give it a complete review. The FJ is yellow, with the white top all FJ's come with. Not the best colors to see depth. But NXT is highly reflective, my wife was astonished by it. I have let her paint go to long, and it is in need of a complete detail/paint cleaning. Which is another reason I can not pass judgement on this. But from what I have seen it is very nice, highly reflective shine, and soooooo easy to apply and take off. Did two coats, with over all time about 3 hours, though I let it sit about 8 hours between coats. And that is with me going up and down a ladder to do the roof. If you are looking for a great shine, long lasting, and ease of use, this product is a must consider.

I've used a lot of NXT over the years, even before they had the 2.0. Always good stuff in my opinion. Fred, you might want to fire up the ole camera to show off your hard work eh?

I've got a new favorite:

Meguiar's #105 (cleaner) followed by #205 (protectant/sealant). I've posted it before, how easy Meg's #105 takes off water spots and imbedded bird poo. If your car isn't in bad shape Meg's #205 is a great product to give you a slight cleaning agent coupled with a superior protectant.

Fred, I'm still anxious to try Yellow #26 on something appropriate (I've got a gallon of it). I'm told it shows best on darker colors, so maybe my work van?

#26 is a great wax. Like most carnuba's yes dark colors get the most benefit. Definitely use it on your work van, as a mobile detailer I think that will need to look good. But red is a dark color to and it will also look great on your 8. Maybe as a topper on Meg's 205.
