Do We Have Sponsors? Can We Have Sponsors? Should We Have Sponsors?
Three birds, one stone...
1) Do We Have Sponsors? Not officially. We do have a meet (May 16th) that is promoted by Lynchburg Mazda and they are providing t-shirts for us. At this time there is no further sponsorship on the books from anyone.
2) Can We Have Sponsors? Without a doubt! I own the website/club, so if we decide to have a business sponsor us, so be it. Their ad can easily be placed on the CVMC website for a week, month or a year. Their name can be placed on a t-shirt, sticker, handout...whatever.
3) Should We Have Sponsors? Here's a common thought among some of the members. If we all find a wheel shop that does great customer service for our club members. Maybe even offers a discount on merchandise. Would we want to promote his business on the web site? Sure! Say we find a mechanic in one or two areas that is a rotary specialist or just an honest Joe willing to build his reputation with our business. Would we want to advertise his shop on our web site? Sure!
Another benefit of having sponsors for our club is to help pay for upcoming events, prizes, improvements.... So if you have a business that you think would be interested in a low cost way of getting some advertisement and some additional business from a growing club, let me know. I think it's in our best interest to keep the sponsors auto related, but I won't say that's a requirement.
So our front-runner for Western VA dealer of choice due to willingness to work with us, doing 2 motor installs for John, and letting us rush a Mazda Master Tech is Lynchburg Mazda.
Powdercoating goes to Nate's connection at (fill in the blank here Nate)
Embroidery goes to gr8pumpkin's neighbor
Vinyl I believe we have 2 choices since Pierce's dad does printing on vinyl and we have club stickers in the cutout style from John. I'll be bugging Pierce's dad because I want to make a custom top of back windshield vinyl with multiple club logos and the ancient lower case m in a circle Mazda logo.
So what type of stuff should we offer them? Ad on website, entry in preferred list of shops/vendors, logos on shirts or banner...
I would even open up the availability of dealerships a bit. As an example, if the Richmond chapter of the CVMC gets big enough you will need your own dealership connection. Same goes for Roanoke, Charlottesville, and so on.
We do need a nice banner ... where is Pierce?
I have had less than favorable interactions with Pearson Mazda since my salesman left. He looked out for me. Whitten Bros sales team is a joke. I'm unsure about the service and repair departments. Also since we're throwing out specialty work. I've been doing auto glass for 15 years.

That gives me an idea for a new thread. Stay tuned.
Yea Pearson is all good until AFTER you buy the car, then they look for loopholes. And Whitten does seem like a joke. They kind of assume you don't know anything... I just bought my warranty online from out of state and it work great, $50 deductible and my maf went bad once.
BTW Richmond sucks for most things. Just a forewarning.
