A short shifter or an aftermarket exhaust? If so I'd be interested in sitting/driving in your car to test out the shifter and listening to it to hear the exhaust :-)

I'm trying to find an exhaust I like the sound of and I think I've narrowed it down to Racing Beat or Greddy, both of which sound good. I've got clips but most of them are of people sitting in it idle, revving the engine which is not a good indicator or sound IMO.

I'd be anxious to meet you at the next meet in May if you do :-)

I think you may be in luck with your wishes Michael. I have the Axial Flow short shifter for starters. You're welcome to try it out. And by the May meet I'm thinking David (phantm8) will likely have the Racing Beat catback exhaust on with a standard set up. My Racing Beat is combined with the RB race pipe in place of the cat, so she's a bit louder.

It's not that loud either, I like it when following on the twisties at meets.  Doesn't call the cops, but it's there.  Then I remember I'm behind a rotary and gag from burning oil grin

This is the one I'm buying, but it appears it only works for the '04-'07 models.

I'm real interested in the Axial Flow SS. I want to see the difference it will make. I'll take you up on the offer.

The Borla was a great exhaust too for the 8, but I dont know if they have it for the '09s yet...

You can never go wrong w/ racing beat though...

As John said I ordered the Racing Beat exhaust last friday but they said there would be a delay in getting it about 2 to 3 weeks i believe.  I'm looking forward to it though!

All I know is I love to follow VR8 on a drive. Love that sound he has with the race pipe and cat back.

When I was following John at the last meet, I decided I MUST have the same sound come from my rotary. I've got the RB headers bookmarked in my browser for when I get the money, and I already have the straight-through everything else... grin Now we just need some money...

sad

You're welcome to Matt. It was one of my most enjoyed modifications. There are some that don't like the extra noise that it adds though.

I wouldn't be able to hear the transmission over my intake now anyway :-)

Anyone owns Racing Beat REVi intake kit or just the air duct for rx8??

It will fit the 09.

My guess is it will be a bit deeper of a sound. From my experience just adding increased air flow makes the 8 sound better.

Do you have racing beat intake with air duct or just the air duct??
i found out that air duct wouldnt fit perfectly with stock intake (there will be some gap) and i have to figure it out to block that gap some how..... :(

No. I have the MazdaSpeed CAI. It makes it real deep down low and whine up top; sounds so good.

I would image the RB one would do similar, just not as bad.

If you could find a thin rubber or silicone connector, that could link the RB scoop to the intake.  You could also just tape it - nobody will see it.  The RB intake is a deeper, growlier sound than the MazdaSpeed CAI, which is more of a banshee wail at revs.  The RB sounds stock at idle, then picks up the growl at 3 or 4 thousand RPM.
