Dyno Days

Well went down to Pulaski with some buddies from work to dyno our vehicles. Was a wet day, but fun and rewarding day. As I watched my buddies post numbers like 425 hp / 830 ft-lbs in their Dodge Turbo Cummins, I became really curious as just what my little Speed would do. Well I could not be more pleased. 248hp / 274 ft-lbs. This is with a CAI, Cat back, test pipe. The dyno operator was beside himself, all he could say was "Very Impressive" This from a man that has built a 800 hp Supra and 750 hp 240SX.  I was so pleased, I may have gotten a stiffy. grin  The one another guy with a sport compact had a SRT4. His numbers were around 225 hp / 263 ft-lbs, he was pleased with his results as well.

Overall a very well spent 60 bucks, but now all I can think of is a down pipe. Warranty does not run out until 2013, not sure I can wait that long.

Nice numbers Fred! I think that will determine whether or not I go.

It was in Pulaski, Va. Coltrane Welding owns it. Think that part of the business is called CWP Dyno Services. They help a lot of the guys that race and drag at the Motor Mile in Christiansburg and in Bristol. Nice group of guys.

If you can get a group of guys together, they will offer small discounts, and stay with you as long as needed. We had about 7 or 8, but only two cars, the rest were pickups. It was 5 dollar cheaper with the group.

But I would think there would be at least one in the Richmond area, and have read of someplace down in the Tidewater area that is always doing group dyno's.

Forgot to mention, you can go to dynojet.com and there is a dyno locator. Samething for Mustang Dynos as well. Here is a couple of links.

For Dynojet:
http://www.dynojet.com/dyno_centers/list_automotive.aspx

For Mustang:
http://www.mustangdyne.com/locator.htm

I am sure anyone can find one near them. We drove 50 miles to the one in Pulaski, not to bad.  But it always pays to get a small group together, as most dyno's will offer some sort of discount for group runs.
